Wayneworth Hamilton appointed Director of the Survey and Mapping Department


Wayneworth Hamilton is the new director of the Survey & Mapping department, the attorney general’s office said.

Hamilton, who is a Commissioned Land Surveyor, graduated from the Jamaica University of Technology, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science with High Honors in Surveying and Geographic Information Sciences and a Master of Science in Built Environment. with specialization in construction management. .

Mr. Hamilton is the recipient of the coveted Newsome, McCook & Associates Award (2012) for best academic performance in surveying and GIS, the Laurence Neufville Award (2015) for best academic performance and best post graduate research project.

Additionally, Wayneworth received the prestigious Outstanding Alumni Award from the Jamaica University of Technology for service to the university and to the country (2019).

The new director of the Survey & Mapping department has over 20 years of surveying experience. He has completed a range of residential and commercial surveying projects including Sandals South Coast, Sangster International Airport, LiDAR survey ground control survey for Norman Manley International Airport, Subdivision of St. Jago Hills, among others.

He has taught at the Jamaica University of Technology in the School of Building and Land Management at the Associate and Bachelor of Science in Surveying and Geographic Information levels and at the senior level of the Master of Science program. of the built environment.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hamilton said, “I consider it a great honor to serve the government and citizens of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Being installed in a role characterized by restoring harmony among stakeholders and providing technical expertise to advance the government’s growth agenda through the digitization of the survey and mapping department is essentially suited to my personal and professional ambitions. This task provides me with a legacy platform to leave an indelible mark on this great nation. I therefore reiterate my commitment to give of myself, my talents and all that is in me for the sole cause of advancing the agenda of the Department of Studies and Cartography of this great nation.
