Suspect leads police in pursuit of stolen car that crashes into Fort Lauderdale building
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. – A police chase and bailout ended with a minor detained in Fort Lauderdale on Monday.
Authorities say a man stole a BMW and took off officers, leading to that person ending up in the back of a police cruiser.
This suspect then either forgot or simply didn’t care to park the car before driving away.
Ring camera footage captured the BMW as it entered an apartment building.
Police were close behind the suspect, a young man, who was quickly arrested and placed in the back of a Fort Lauderdale police cruiser.
Officers spotted the stolen BMW in Hollywood around 7 p.m. Monday.
The suspect eventually ended up in a neighborhood along northeast 5th Avenue and 13th Street.
Resident Mark Hill heard the commotion and ran outside his apartment.
“I looked outside and there were cops everywhere, then I walked out a bit further and there it is, this beautiful car right there,” Hill said of the stolen BMW.
The car was then towed away from the scene with minimal damage.
Hill, along with other neighbors, were happy no one was injured in the chaotic incident.
“Even the dog there could have been killed, anyone could have been, if we were there or whatever, luckily no one was,” he said.
Police did not say where exactly the BMW was stolen, or from whom.
