Proptech BuildPass Raises $ 1 Million to Facilitate Construction Management

Melbourne construction tech startup BuildPass raised $ 1 million in a pre-seed round.

The increase was supported by local companies in the construction industry and strategic investors based in the United States, with the company looking to expand into the United States market within the next 1-2 years.

BuildPass was co-founded by Matt Perrott and Aaron Vanston, who met Senior Engineer James Formica when they worked together on and built the Spacely product together.

The oversubscribed pre-seed cycle will be used to grow the team, accelerate product development and grow nationally ahead of the company’s international ambitions.

Matt Perrott, they are now looking for designers and engineers to grow with the business and execute their plans.

“We are delighted with the amount of support for BuildPass. We set a goal of $ 550,000, but we always said we would take it to double, ”he said.

We were fortunate enough to complete everything in under 4 weeks from start to finish, which allowed us to focus 100% on the product and the customers.

Their app and web platform launched in beta in June and recently opened to the public. The app is designed to make the management of construction sites safer and more efficient.

Perrott said owners of small construction businesses typically resort to managing their projects on paper, email, and complex spreadsheets.

“BuildPass integrates the builder, the contractor and the workers into a single connected platform,” he said.

“When it comes to high quality software, the little guys have been overlooked. Current solutions are clumsy, complex and only solve part of the problem.

“We are leveraging our experience with ASX-listed technology companies to create a world-class technology platform focused on the builder and worker user experience. “

Perrott said he took inspiration from digital disruptors like Xero and Up to tackle the construction industry.

“The two companies have disrupted industries characterized by archaic software solutions; BuildPass does the same for construction, ”he said.

“Unlike most construction technology companies, we focus heavily on design and engineering. We don’t believe in hiring a great sales team to sell our product. Our strategy is to delight our customers and focus on product-driven growth. The smart onboarding experience also means we don’t need to charge customers implementation fees.

The business started out so far, with the platform built by the founders and the first team members in less than six months.

BuildPass now has paid customers ranging from small home builders to mid-size commercial builders. We are fortunate to work with some of the country’s most respected architectural builders, such as Dome Building Projects and Visioneer Builders.
