Dr Hamid Salam, a triple-certified physician in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, has joined Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

Salam was the director of the cardiac team and the catheter aortic valve replacement program at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was also the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line and the Chest Pain Center. He was previously in private practice in Covington and earlier in Chicago. Salam received his medical degree in Pakistan from Dow Medical College. He completed a residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in cardiology. He served as Chief of Cardiology Fellows and Chief of Internal Medicine Residents during his participation.

Claris smith, lawyer associated with Cooper LLC Law Firm, was appointed President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Gulf Coast Dartmouth Club.

As a member of the executive team, Smith will support programming and events with a focus on inclusion and diversity. At the Cooper law firm, she pleads toxic pharmaceutical and environmental crimes. She is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Louisiana and a volunteer mentor for the Legal Education Advancing Diversity program at Dillard. Smith double majored in English and Studio Art at Dartmouth and received a Masters of Health Science from the University of Texas at Tyler and attended Tulane Law School.

Keith Espadron Jr. was appointed special associate for economic development at St. Tammany Corp.

Espadron will contribute to the business development and technical services aspects of the organization’s economic development initiatives and to the management of its economic development projects; help support the business retention and expansion program; and assist in the facilitation of Advance St. Tammany, the organization’s business assistance program. Espadron was director of economic development and tourism for the government of the parish of Plaquemines. He also sits on the First Planning District Workforce Development Board and the Regional Planning Commission. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from LSU.

Entrepreneurs DonahueFavret Inc. named Pierce langridge as a project manager, Brock Piglia as director of marketing and Terry parker as a project engineer.

Langridge was a project manager at FH Myers Construction and has over 10 years of project management experience. He graduated from LSU with a Diploma in Construction Management and minors in Business Administration and Technical Sales. He started his career in Baton Rouge and in 2018 moved to the New Orleans market.

Piglia was Director of Marketing and Business Development at EskewDumezRipple Architects and has over a decade of experience in the architecture and construction industry. He received a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from LSU and practiced as a town planner and urban designer in St. Louis before earning a master’s degree in business administration.

Parker created a niche as an office manager, finance manager and senior project administrator at Williams Architects, where she spent 26 years.

De’Shoin A. York was appointed vice-chancellor for extension and awareness raising University of the South Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

York was appointed acting vice-chancellor for extension in September, having served as associate vice-chancellor of the center since January 2020. For the past 20 years, York has been the specialist in nutrition, health and wellness. be from the Southern University Ag Center. She is also director of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Nutrition Education Programs. She was previously a research assistant at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. York graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human food and nutrition; a master’s degree in public administration and a doctorate in philosophy of public policy with a concentration in health policy, all from the University of the South.
