How to unlock your camera in League of Legends
League of Legends caters to new and old players with customization options. One of the key features that have helped new players is the ability to lock the camera on their champion.
For new players, this gives them an easier way to follow the game and learn the controls without worrying about camera drift. Alternatively, having the camera unlocked allows the player to quickly look around the map and focus on key situations unfolding outside of their vicinity.
There are times when playing on lock screen can cause issues, such as when an enemy champion is waiting offscreen or teammates attempting to get the player’s attention to the map. This, however, can be easily corrected. Even with the camera locked, players can click the minimap to view a location or use keyboard shortcuts to focus the camera on their allies.
Once you have learned the basics and are comfortable with League, you might want to use a free camera to take your game to the next level.
Here is how you can unlock the camera in League of Legends.
The easiest way is to disable the locked camera with the button found in the game.
You can see this option on the left side of the minimap as a small camera icon. Touching this icon will lock or unlock the camera.
Another easy way to achieve the same results is to use the keyboard shortcut which will activate the camera lock. This is set to the letter Y by default, but you can customize the key that triggers this feature in the control settings.
There is an issue that gamers usually face where the game will get stuck in locked or free camera mode and will not respond to any of the methods listed above. If this bug occurs, you can usually fix it by tapping on the minimap and dragging your cursor over the map. Sometimes that’s all it takes, but in other cases players have been forced to restart their client or, in more severe cases, reinstall the game entirely.
Ultimately, the choice of playing with a locked or free camera is going to be up to the player. The key is to find what works for you and helps you achieve the desired results in the game.
