Fire in Arroyo Grande damages commercial building on Grand Avenue
A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at a small commercial building in Arroyo Grande, causing extensive damage to the building, according to the Five Cities Fire Authority.
The fire near the intersection of East Grand Avenue and South Halcyon Road was reported to authorities around 12:50 p.m., according to public safety communications app PulsePoint.
Several fire engines responded to quickly put out the fire.
The fire appears to have caused extensive damage to the interior of the building, as well as smoke damage to the exterior of the structure.
Firefighters found no one inside the building, which houses innovative cleaning solutions, during their initial search, according to Five Cities Fire Battalion Chief Brian Salce.
As of 2 p.m., the eastbound Grand Avenue was expected to be blocked off from Halcyon Road to Brisco Road for about two hours as crews continued to mop up the blaze, Salce said.
