Energy-efficient renovation of an apartment building: Easy, safe and clean installation | Characteristics

This apartment building, certified according to the Minergie standard, is located in the peaceful town of Muri in the Swiss canton of Bern. Minergie is a registered trademark for sustainable construction, owned by the Minergie association headquartered in Bern, and represents Switzerland’s highest energy standard for low-consumption buildings.

The use of CALOSTAT® high performance insulating material on the building facade contributes to its energy balance. In some parts of the building, there is a demand for high performance insulation materials. By using CALOSTAT®, which has a much better thermal performance than other non-combustible materials, the thickness of the insulation layer can be significantly reduced.

This is especially the case in balcony areas and roller shutter cabinets. Due to the different length of the lintels and window sills, the elements were easily cut to size during installation on site. The sheets were fixed to the substrate with dowels and then covered with sheet metal.

CALOSTAT® was installed in the areas of the lintels (external blinds) and in the areas of the balustrades of the balconies, each time using two layers with a thickness of 50 mm.

The high performance CALOSTAT® insulating sheets have a compressive strength> 90 kPa and do not contain any fungicides, algaecides or pesticides.

The plates are not only completely harmless but are also easy to cut on site without affecting the quality of the butt joints. CALOSTAT® is safe and easy to handle for installers.

The pure mineral raw material also guarantees excellent product properties: CALOSTAT® is a class A (non-combustible) building material, is neutral in reaction to other composite materials and does not contain any fogging enhancing ingredient.

Unlike most fossil insulating materials, the plates are fully recyclable. All this not only makes CALOSTAT® an excellent and safe thermal insulation, but contributes to the comfort of tenants and allows a high standard of healthy living.
