Cross Country Places 20 Runners on All-Big 12 Academic List

LUBBOCK, Texas. – Texas Tech’s men’s and women’s cross-country teams have assembled 20 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 list, the league office said Thursday afternoon.

A total of 10 Red Raiders from each team were on the roster as Texas Tech was tied with Kansas State and Texas for leading all women’s teams.

“It is a great honor for those who have qualified for this,” said cross country head coach Jon murray. “It’s a testament to the amount of work each of them does in the classroom. I’m proud of every member of this team and the work they do to graduate.”

The first team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a GPA of 3.20 or better, while the second team caps hold a GPA of 3.00 to 3.19. In addition to holding a GPA in any of the above ranges, a student-athlete must have participated in at least 20 percent of the team’s competitions throughout the season to be eligible, or in the event seniors, having done so in the past two years.
