Car rams into another vehicle and then into an apartment building on Crabapple Way in San Jose, police say

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) — San Jose police and firefighters are investigating a crash early Thursday morning after a car hit another vehicle and then crashed into an apartment.

It happened around 1:40 a.m. on Crabapple Way after a car drove through the intersection near Senter Rd. and Sylvandale Ave. before slamming into the building.

Nine people have been displaced and two apartments are marked in red due to the damage.

The crash also resulted in a loose tire hitting an apartment on Senter Rd. causing windows to break and cabinets to fall inside the apartment.

But police said when they came across the car no one was in it. But the driver was later tracked down and arrested for driving under the influence or DUI.

The Red Cross is on site to help residents.

At 6:15 a.m., ABC7’s Lena Howland said officials barricaded the building.

Residents were not injured, authorities said.
