A multi-alarm fire in Lima on Thursday razes a building

BATH TOWNSHIP – The Bath Township Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the Shoreline Apartments on the 2200 block of E. Elm Street in Lima on Thursday afternoon.

When Bath Township Fire arrived on the scene, several other units were already involved in containing very thick smoke and flames coming from one of the apartments.

It took firefighters more than two hours to bring the blaze under control with the help of the following departments: American Township, City of Lima, Perry Township, Cairo-Monroe Township and Lafayette-Jackson Township. Additional firefighters were called due to average temperatures of 90 degrees. The units remained on site for approximately four hours.

A preliminary damage estimate of $450,000 was established by firefighters. A total of six dwellings were damaged by fire and only one was damaged by water.

No occupants or firefighters were injured. Several residents are assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and is under investigation.

The apartments are owned by Brad and Wanda Augsburger of Lima.
